From Arnold, we explored Sonora, another great little town just 35-40 mins away. You’ll get to cross over the bridge with great views of New Melones Lake, and continue through Columbia (if you’re into Western bandit reenactments, pitstop there).

Sonora has coffee shops (closed around 2pm), antique shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants, and other things for a change of pace. Classic toy and candy shops also appear in the heart of the main strip.
